FREE Fulled Bag Knitting Pattern
This bag is knitted back and forth (knit every row) and the seam is sewn before fulling.
Yarn: 1 oz handspun worsted.
Needles: 2 single points or 1 circular needle size US 10/6mm.
This pattern will work with fine yarn or thick yarn. Just be sure to use wool that will full (some white and yellow colored yarns will not) and needles that would normally be considered ‘too big for this yarn’.
M1=make one by making a backward twist around the right needle.
Yoyo= yarn over the needle twice.
Fulled BagCast on 6 sts.
K1, m1. Repeat across=11 sts.
Knit
K1, m1. Repeat across=21 sts.
Knit
K1, m1. Repeat across=41sts.
Continue to knit even on 41 sts until piece measures 5″.
Eyelet row:
K4, *yoyo, k2tog, k3. Repeat from * across.
Next row: knit across, knitting into first yo, dropping 2nd yo.
Knit 2 more rows.
Bind off.
Break yarn, leaving tail long enough to sew seam.
Sew seam.
Weave in ends.
Full the bag: fill basin with hot water (you may add a drop or two of dish detergent or shampoo or wool wash of some sort).
Fill another basin with cold water (I add some ice periodically so it stays cold).
*Rub a dub scrub your bag in the hot water for a while, then plunge the bag into the cold and do the same.
Repeat from * until the bag is nicely fulled.
Roll in towel to remove excess water or hold it by the cotton cord and spin around at high speed, using the centrifugal force to remove the water. This is especially fun if you are 13 years old or younger. Shape it and hank it to dry.
When the bag is dry, remove the cotton yarn and replace with ribbon of your choice.

An easy way to seam two pieces together and bind them off at the same time:
You could do this technique the exact same way on circular needles. You would just divide half the stitches on one needle and half on the other (pulling the extra cord long between the halves), and do this technique with the work inside-out, right sides together.
