Materials: Clark’s O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, Size 10, 4 balls of color 66 Linen or Ecru. Milward’s steel crochet hook No. 5.

Antimacassar: (9 by 15 inches.) Make ch about 10 inches long. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook. * Ch 2, skip 2 sts of foundation ch, d c in each of next 2 sts, ch 8, s c in 5th ch from hook for picot. Make 2 more ch-5 picots, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3, ch 2, skip 5 sts of foundation ch, d c in each of next 2 sts. Repeat from * to end of ch. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * 2 d c over ch-2 sp, ch 2, d c in top of ch-5 p, ch 3, d c in next p, ch 3, d c in next p, ch 2. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: * 2 d c in 1st sp, ch 2, d c in 2nd sp, ch 3, d c in d c above center p, ch 3, d c in 3rd sp, ch 2, 2 d c in 4th sp, ch 2. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn.

4th row: 2 tr in 1st sp, * ch 5, make 1 s c over ch-3 loop on each side of center d c of motif, ch 5, 2 tr over next ch-2 sp between the 2 groups of 2-d c. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. 5th row: Same as 1st row, making d c’s over the ch-5 loops of preceding row. Repeat pattern until work measures about 15 inches.

Edging: Attach thread to one corner and work edging on long side. 1st row: Ch 5, tr in 1st sp, * ch 5, s c in next sp, ch 5, tr in next sp, repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * 2 d c over next ch-5 loop, ch 5, and repeat from * across. Ch 7, turn. 3rd row: * Tr over next ch-5 loop, ch 7, s c in 1st ch to make p, ch 7, s c over next ch-5 loop, ch 7 and repeat from *. Fasten off.

Arm Pieces: Make ch about 9 inches long and repeat pattern of antimacassar, until work measures about 5½ inches (or width desired). Make edgings across the ends.
