Broward County Public Schools Superintendent James Notter has decided to close Hallandale High School (720 NW Ninth Avenue, Hallandale) next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (May 4, 5 and 6) as a precautionary measure due to a confirmed case of the H1N1 (Swine) flu involving a student at the school. The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu. Like seasonal flu, swine flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.
