Breastfeeding Classes and Support
Classes provide you and your family with the most current information to support you with successful breastfeeding in the first few weeks of life. Dads and grandparents are welcome and encouraged to come to all of the classes.

Broward General Medical Center Breastfeeding Class
Intended to teach expectant mothers the basics of breastfeeding, this class includes everything you need to know about proper positioning techniques, infant feeding behaviors and how to manage common problems. Classes are $10 per couple and are held the first and third Wednesday of every month from 6:00-8:00PM. The location for this class is at the Cancer Center Conference Room. Coral Springs Medical Center Breastfeeding Consultant
Without the right support, it’s easy for mother and baby to get discouraged about breastfeeding. Our on-site certified lactation consultant can help you and baby get off to the right start. That can mean better long-term recovery and health for both you and baby! Our lactation consultant is even available to help after you go home.

Professional Lactation Consultant
Offers a private breastfeeding class in your home as well as support for nursing following birth. All phone calls are FREE and you would be amazed how much she can help you over the phone! Fee for visits to home; it's much less than the cost of artificial breast milk formula for one month.

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is August 1st - 7th and celebrates the signing of the Innocenti Declaration, produced and adopted in 1990 by participants at the WHO/UNICEF meeting on "Breastfeeding in the 1990s: A Global Initiative on the Protection, Promotion and Support of Breastfeeding." The document lists the benefits of breastfeeding, plus global and governmental goals. World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in 120 countries on various dates.
